Summer at Camp Davis
The Camp Davis Field Station enjoyed another full summer. As our number of majors has grown, so have our upper level offerings, and 62 students took 400-level field courses this summer, the most in quite some time. Courses in introductory geology, introductory environmental sciences, and energy continue to attract new students to Camp Davis and to the department. Use of Camp has continued into the late summer with the offering of an NSF-sponsored graduate-level summer school that has brought together 32 PhD students from around the world. The summer school on mountain ranges, high plateaus and climate is designed to cross-pollinate the next generation of earth scientists in both atmospheric and solid earth sciences.
