Don’t miss this new website created by Dr. Elisha P. Renne. Founded in 1994, Queen Amina Embroidery was named after Queen Amina, 16th-century ruler of the Zazzau Emirate. All work is handmade by a cooperative of 25 women who live in Zaria, Nigeria. Current designs were born out of three Hausa styles, which can be seen on the linens, accessories, clothing, and wall hangings sold in their online shop.

Dr. Renne is a Department of Afroamerican and African Studies and Department of Anthropology Professor Emerita. She also served as the Associate Chair of DAAS from (years). Her research focuses on medical anthropology, gender relations, religion, and textiles in Nigeria.
