The Center for the Study of Complex Systems is thrilled to add Professor Xiaoming Mao to our Affiliated Faculty group. This brings our count to 36 active affiliated faculty members.
Professor Mao‘s research interests span the areas of soft condensed matter, materials physics, and statistical mechanics. Her current research mainly runs along two lines: a unified view of soft elasticity and fundamental rules of self-assembly.
Professor Mao gave a talk in the Complex Systems Seminar series in April 2023: "Geometric frustration, self-assembly, mechanics, and pathways to complexity" and is currently organizing the long held ICAM Workshop - working with several departments across campus including Complex Systems.
