Zell Visiting Writers Series
The Zell Visiting Writers Series is a reading series presented by the Helen Zell Writers’ Program in partnership with the University of Michigan Museum of Art, with support from the Department of English Language & Literature, the Office of the Vice President for Research, and Janey Lack.
The ZVWS features writers from all over North America and from abroad, as well as from our Michigan community. Visitors often hold individual consultations with students, teach guest workshops, or give craft talks, in addition to their public readings. Recent visitors to the program include: Daniel Alarcon, Yusef Komunyakaa, ZZ Packer, Mary Gaitskill, Jonathan Lethem, D.A. Powell, Wells Tower, Jennifer Egan, Karen Russell, David Mitchell, Terrance Hayes, Aleksander Hemon, Elizabeth McCracken, Carrie Fountain, NoViolet Bulawayo, Jane Smiley, Kazuo Ishiguro, Ross Gay, Mary Ruefle, Angela Flournoy, Richard Siken, Alice McDermott, Gary Snyder, Louise Glück, and Anne Carson.
