Sister Africa

Friday, March 13, 2015
12:00 AM
Michigan Theater

Sister Africa will be the 17th annual culture show of the African Student Association. The show will be an exhibition of cultures from all over Africa. From songs in different African languages to the performance of traditional dances through the use of masquerades, the show will be a celebration of Africa’s diversity, beauty and its influence on the rest of the world. The goal of Sister Africa is to use art to show Africa’s impact on cultures from around the world. We hope that people leave the show with more of an understanding and appreciation for Africa and a renewed hope for unification of its descendants from around the world. Foxy P, a Nigerian comedian and YouTube star, will host the show. This year, several fashion designers from all over the United States of America are allowing Sister Africa’s models to showcase their work. In addition, we will be having dance and musical performances from not only African entertainers but also from those inspired by the African culture like Latin@(s), Caribbean and many more. Any student at the University of Michigan will be able to participate and also attend the event.
