Recently, Google Analytics updated their interface and we have noticed that some of the information in our tranining manual is a bit outdated. While we update it, we thought a news article with basic information would be helpful. This is the first article based off reponses we received from the survey we sent out in February 2017.
- Use your uniqname and Kerberos password
If you are unable to log-in or need to add/remove users to your department or unit’s account, please submit a ticket. Include the uniqnames and your department/unit.
In the original training manual there is a section on importing dashboards. This step is no longer necessary. Once a dashboard is shared it will show up under Customization > Dashboards in all of the user accounts that have access. The dashboard that Web Services created for all departments and units is called AEM Site Widgets.
More information on the type of information that was set up on the dashboards can be found in our Google Analytics section under Standard Dashboard Sections.
Top Pages Report
One report that you will find in your dashboard is the Top Viewed Pages report. This is a good overview of the most popular pages on your website. It also shows the average time on page (the average amount of time visitors spent on a page) and bounce rate (the percentage of people that visited that page and then left without viewing any other pages).
This report can be viewed by clicking the link from the dashboard or by going through the navigation on the left side Behavior – Site Content – All Pages.
Please note, the date range automatically defaults to the last 7 days, you can update this in the right hand corner. The Date Range online tutorial provides further instruction.
There is an Export link at the top of the page in any report that you view or generate. You can export it into the following formats:
- TSV for Excel
- Google Sheets
Next to the Export link, you will find the Email link. This allows you to email a report in any of the formats listed above. It’s also possible to set the frequency the report should be emailed.
