For the second year in a row, from August 20-24, 2012, the Biological Station hosted Camp KinoMaage.  The camp is a week-long meeting of middle school students from Native American tribes across Michigan.  Students stay at the Biological Station and learn science from UMBS staff and faculty, Native American culture from local tribal elders, and Ojibwe language from faculty and students in the U-M Native American Studies program.

The photo, left, of UMBS Assistant Research Professor, Luke Nave, working with campers is from the August 27, 2012, Record Update (photo by Helke Jackson).  A complete article on the camp's inaugural year at UMBS ran in the Update on June 14, 2011.

The camp is organized by the U-M Center for Educational Outreach and the Native American Studies Program.
