Dr. Matthew Saxon is a microbiologist and Postdoctoral Fellow of Environmental Science and Policy at the College of William & Mary.  His research seeks to understand how human activities influence microbial community structure and metabolism and to identify how these changes lead to ecological problems such as hypoxia and algal bloom formation.  In particular, he has focused on Lake Erie, including participating in 8 research cruises.

Dr. Saxon received his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee and was a postdoctoral researcher there in 2011.
