What is the Program in Transcultural Studies?

The Accelerated Master's Degree Program (AMDP) in Transcultural Studies offers accomplished and ambitious undergraduates in LSA the opportunity to earn an interdisciplinary MA degree with just one year of study beyond their BA or BS. It is designed for students who wish to complement their undergraduate concentrations with the advanced study of issues of transcultural connectivity, comparison and translation that increasingly bear upon work in traditional disciplines and inform practical approaches to real-world problems relating to human rights, economic development, environmental policy, public health, and religious conflict, among many others. Given the breadth and flexibility of the program, its graduates are able to leverage the degree for many different purposes, whether as a stepping-stone to doctoral study, social entrepreneurship, traditional public sector work, or employment in the corporate world.
