Resources for Learning and Self-Help for Commonly Used Software

Are you looking for how-to information about Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, or other applications?

The College of LSA offers access to a large variety of commonly used software. If you are unsure of how to use these software applications or need some how-to help we have accumulated some resources to assist!

Adobe Creative Cloud:

Who can use it: 

Self help:

  • Using the same Adobe login, you can also utilize the Adobe Education Platform. This platform is an online resource for watching self-paced videos and specific project-related work using Creative Cloud applications. Check out the Adobe Help Center for questions and answers directly from the vendor.

  • LinkedIn Learning is now available to all faculty, staff, and students at U-M. Here you can find a variety of online videos to assist you with application-specific how-to’s.

Consultation:

  • The U-M Library and ScholarSpace offers consultation and workshops on questions surrounding a variety of topics associated with this application suite. 

  • LSA Technology Services has resources available if you need assistance for: 

    • Acrobat: You can call 734.615.0100 or email lsait@umich.edu to work with a Service Desk member. 

    • Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop: Our BlueCorps team is available to help with virtual in-person support.

  • LSA Technology Services has two resources you can use if you need assistance:

    • Word, Excel, and Powerpoint: You can call 734.615.0100 or email lsait@umich.edu to work with a Service Desk member for support with the basic functions of these applications.

    • Word, Excel, and Powerpoint: Our BlueCorps team is available to help with virtual in-person support.

 

EndNote:

Who can use it:

  • EndNote is available for free to LSA faculty, staff, and students on personal or U-M owned devices. Email us at lsait@umich.edu to get started with your install.

Self help:

  • LinkedIn Learning has some videos available for viewing too, but be sure to verify that you are watching the video related to the version of EndNote you are using. Also, check out the EndNote Training Site for training and support directly from the vendor. Endnote also has a frequently updated YouTube page including videos from getting started to syncing publications across multiple devices.

G Suite Applications:

The Google Suite is available to all members of the university, with products including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Google Sites. The ITS getting started with Google is a great place to start for application-specific resources and videos. LinkedIn Learning has a number of videos available as well for common tips, tricks, and techniques. You can also get G Suite Applications Support and Training directly from the vendor. Dragon Dictate:

This software application is only available on LSA owned devices. Nance is the vendor for Dragon Dictate and has a vast knowledge base on support resources for this product. LinkedIn Learning has numerous videos to support this product and how to use the product from start to finish.

 

FileMaker Pro:

FileMaker Pro is only available on LSA owned devices. LSA Technology Services supports the server hosting for FileMaker to all LSA-affiliated faculty and staff. If you have specific questions about using this software, start with an email to lsait@umich.edu for help. Claris is the vendor for FileMaker Pro and has a detailed support page of resources to help with many how-to questions.
