Safe Computing has a great page for Traveling with Duo

When traveling, most people can use the Duo Mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. Even if you don't have a cellular or WiFi connection, the app can generate a passcode. If you do not have a smartphone or would prefer an alternative method, there are Duo Tokens available for purchase at computer showcase.

To Know Before You Go:

Does where you are going restrict the use of Duo? Check the Export Control Restrictions by visiting the “Tools of the Trade” License Exception for country-specific restrictions.

What is the best option for your situation? See Handout: How to Travel With Duo Two-Factor Authentication for descriptions of the options that are best for different travel scenarios. Bypass Codes are available, Call 4HELP (734-764-4357) to ask for a temporary, extended-use passcode. Please be prepared to share how long you will need it and if possible request these several days before traveling.

Are you buying a special phone or borrowing one for your travel? You can register it ahead of time.

Remember the ITS Service Center can help. If you need to, you can phone the ITS Service Center for a temporary, extended-use bypass code. Add the Service Center phone number (734-764-4357) to your contacts list. They even have 24/7 for Duo assistance for emergencies. Press ‘0’ to have the phone roll to the 24/7 option when 4HELP is closed.
