If you use special tools in teaching, check below to see if students in your class who also have temporary work appointments will be affected and need to use Duo to participate.  If you have questions about a tool you use that is not listed here, email lsait@umich.edu for more assistance.  Remember to test your own access to Duo in teaching before the January change to keep your class on track next term.  As a backup keep a USB drive with your needed materials on it in case you forget your Duo device.

Be Ready For The Room

Help Students

  • Make sure your device is charged and configured for Duo.

  • Keep a backup of your presentation on a USB drive.

  • Keep paper backup of codes for critical days (only good 12 hours) or second device like a token.

  • Make sure you know some students will be required to use their phone for things you use that use Weblogin.

  • Student employees and other students required to use Duo should let their faculty know this at the beginning of the semester, so that the faculty member understands why they may need to check their phone or other device during class activities for which Weblogin (and thus Duo) is required.

  • For tests that are proctored: Whoever is proctoring must be informed of the need for two factor if the course uses an exam system that requires Weblogin (e.g., Canvas, Google Forms) and there are students in the class who are required to use Duo and have notified the instructor of such at the beginning of the term.

 

Please note: You CANNOT use the “Remember me 7 days” option in our classrooms.  These machines are locked down as we have so many users in a day who access them.
