We’re pleased to announce Christine Modey as director of the Sweetland Peer Writing Consultant Program for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Peer Writing Consultant Program helps undergraduate students to become theoretically informed and well-practiced writing consultants through coursework and in practice at Sweetland’s Peer Writing Center in Angell Hall and satellite locations in the Shapiro Undergraduate Library, Duderstadt Center, and Alice Lloyd Hall. Additionally, Peer Writing Consultants operate the OWL (Online Writing Lab) which provides writing assistance to fellow undergrads via video chat.

Christine has been on the faculty of the Sweetland Center for Writing for eleven years, where she teaches Transition to College Writing, Writing Workshop, New Media Writing, and the Seminar in Peer Tutoring. She has taught first-year writing courses on the themes of art and technology; suffering, justice, and community; physicians and their patients; and the history of the book. Her current research, conducted with colleagues at Sweetland, concerns the interactions between writers and consultants in Sweetland’s Writing Workshop.
