The Robert Altman Collection is housed in the Special Collections at the Hatcher Graduate Library at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 900 boxes of materials were archived in the Altman collection.
There are three major components to this part of the collection: The Business and Financial series, The Legal series, and The Chronological series.
The Commercials series includes materials from Robert Altman's commercial production company, Villains.
The Miller Beer Commercial series consists of material from a series of commercials for Miller Beer directed by Robert Altman in May, 1984.
The Other Projects series consists of scripts sent to Robert Altman for consideration as potential film projects. The material is generally from 1989 to 2003, and arranged by author’s last name. Where possible, a submission date is noted.
The Personal series includes correspondence, legal and medical documents, early work, interviews, clippings, and photographs.
The Early Projects series contains materials from early projects including movies, TV, commercials, and short films.
The Countdown series consists of materials from the 1968 film.
The MASH series consists of materials from the 1970 film.
That Cold Day in the Park series consists of materials from the 1969 film
