Application & Financial Aid Information

Admission to the Residential College is available to any prospective student who has first been accepted to the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA). There is no separate application, essay, or interview required of applicants to the RC. RC students are self-selecting to the Residential College. Your interest and passion for an invigorating liberal arts experience is your ticket in. Each fall, we confirm a maximum of 260 admitted LSA students students into a new class of RC-ers. The majority of these students are first years, while some are transfer students with 40 or less transfer credits.

Since the Residential College is part of the College of Literature, Science and Arts (LSA) you can indicate your interest in the RC program when you complete the Common Application and the supplement for the University of Michigan-LSA on the Office of Undergraduate Admissions website. At that time, select the Residential College by checking the RC box.

If you have already submitted your application for U-M, email for more information about joining the RC.

If you indicated the RC on your early application to U-M LSA, RC admissions staff will contact you by email by January 31 after you are officially admitted to U-M to confirm your interest in the RC. All general decision applicants will be contacted by RC admissions staff within three weeks of admission.

If you have any questions about the RC admissions process, please contact Logan Corey, RC Admissions & Recruitment Coordinator, at or call (734) 647-4361.
