HET SEMINAR | The Geometry of the Quantum Hall Effect

Friday, October 19, 2012
12:00 AM
340 West Hall

By putting the quantum Hall system in a curved space, we reveal a rich
set of symmetries. We use these symmetries to restrict the effective
field theory describing the quantum Hall state. The physical
consequences of the effective field theory are described: the shift,
the Hall viscosity, and the wavenumber correction to the Hall
conductivity. The talk is based on arXiv:1109.2651.
