U-M Fellowships

Adelia Davis, 2017 Wallenberg Fellow to South Africa

Wallenberg Fellowship

Inspired by the spirit of Raoul Wallenberg, the Wallenberg Fellowship is awarded in the spring of each year to a graduating senior of exceptional promise and accomplishment who is committed to service and the public good. The fellowship provides $25,000 to carry out an independent project of learning or exploration anywhere in the world during the year after graduation. The Fellow will engage in a self-designed and self-directed area of exploration or project of experiential learning. Through an active and immersive year-long experience, and by connecting in meaningful ways with the lives of other people and communities, the Wallenberg Fellow will prepare to make a difference in the world. This fellowship is open to all graduating seniors at U-M.

Jeff Theiel, 2017 Jones Fellow at University College London

CoE Roger M. Jones Fellowship

A professor of humanities in the College of Engineering, Roger M. Jones was dedicated to teaching his students the profound human value of literature. The Roger M. Jones Fellowship was established shortly after Professor Jones’ death in 1977 to honor his memory and to celebrate his conviction about the relevance of the humanities in a technological age. This annual Fellowship abroad provides a graduating U-M engineering student the opportunity to study the humanities at a European university to broaden and deepen his or her previous education in the College of Engineering. The Fellowship includes living expenses, travel stipend, and tuition for one year.

Harleen Kaur, 2015 Bonderman Fellow

LSA Bonderman Fellowship

The Bonderman Fellowship offers 4 graduating LSA seniors $20,000 to travel the world. They must travel to at least 6 countries in 2 regions over the course of 8 months and are expected to immerse themselves in independent and enriching explorations. Bonderman Fellows engage with cultures, people, and areas of the world with which they are not familiar, providing an opportunity to develop entirely new perspectives.
