Urban Fellows Program NYC

The Urban Fellows Program NYC is a highly selective, nine-month fellowship which combines work in Mayoral offices and City agencies with an intensive seminar series that explores current urban issues impacting public policy. Program participants are diverse and come from all over the country to work in New York City.​  The Urban Fellows Program is sponsored by The City of New York and administered by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS). The program is designed to introduce America's finest college students and graduates to local government and public service.  The nine month fellowship begins in September and ends in May.  The program provides a stipend of $30,000 and health insurance coverage.

Institutional Endorsement:  This fellowship does not require U-M endorsement.  Applications are submitted directly to the Urban Fellows Program.

Eligibility:

  • Can commit full-time to the nine-month fellowship

  • Agree to suspend any graduate study or outside work for the duration of the fellowship

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the U.S. after graduation and for the entire fellowship period.
