The Department of Middle East Studies is part of the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, which administers its undergraduate programs, and of the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, which administers its graduate programs. The regular faculty numbers 24, of whom 14 are full professors. At the undergraduate level, the department offers a major in Middle East Studies, and minors in Middle East Languages and Cultures and Middle East Studies. At the graduate level, the department offers an M.A. in Arabic Studies, with subplans in Arabic for Professional Purposes and Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language, and a PhD program in Middle East Studies.
