The Celebration of the Year
The entire MCSP community, from current students, to staff and alums, came out to the annual End-of-Year celebration. The celebration highlighted the accomplishments of the year, showcased the events that MCSP held across campus and the community, and honored MCSPers for their commitment towards the values of the program. Speeches were given from MCSP directors and student leaders, and students enjoyed a delicious dinner to cap off another great year in the program. Graduating seniors were honored with MCSP cords, and special recogntion was given for parting staff members; Laura Lee Smith (programming) and Gabe Colman (diversity initiatives) worked tirelessly throughout the year to help MCSP students succeed within the program.

For the Class of 2019, MCSP provided a foundation of friends, diversity and social justice education, and skills to embark on community service and change initiatives wherever they go. MCSP has enjoyed seeing these students grow and accomplish new feats, and they will take the values and lessons learned in our community into their careers, continuing education plans, service projects, or any other future endeavors.
Best wishes to all graduates, and please stay in touch with your MCSPhamily! Go Blue and Go MCSP!
Summer brings about many MCSP reunions as well! Ann Arbor always welcomes its alums back home, and so does MCSP. Members of MCSP's Class of 2018 reunited (Selena, Rachel, Dan, Jacob, and Andrew) and picked up right where they left off. This is a true testament to the power of friendship that forms within the MCSP community!
Next Stop: Social Change
As students part ways for the summer, we encourage all of our MCSP students to give back to their communities during their time away from campus. Many MCSPers are spending their summers at internships, volunteer experiences, or traveling to different places, gaining new insight on the world around us and seeking to find answers on how to solve problems. Wherever our students and graduates go, they will always carry the change mindset developed within our program - we are so proud of our students and we cannot wait to hear their stories when they return!
Keep Us Posted
As students work, volunteer, travel, or get settled in their post-graduate careers, make sure to keep MCSP posted on what you all are up to! With MCSP alums all around the country and world, we want to hear from you. Send us pictures/updates to share how you're spreading MCSP wherever you go.
Until Next Time!
Thanks to the entire MCSP community for another great year. MCSP cannot wait to return this fall with a new group of student leaders and staff to welcome the next class of Michigan Community Scholars.
Have a great summer and we will see you soon!
