MCSP student leaders Dan Distler and Jeremy Parks led a group of 14 students on an Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trip this past month. After months of planning and fundraising, the group spent the week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin focusing on urban farming and agriculture. Working with local urban farms, food banks, and community organizations, MCSP students learned about various initiatives to help alleviate the issue of "food deserts." Students also spent their free time with side trips to Chicago and Madison. Overall, both first-year students and student leaders enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend the ASB program to others.
