The Sonia Kovalevsky Selection Committee of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) have selected Liliana Borcea, to be the 2017 Sonia Kovalevsky Lecturer at the SIAM Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA, July 10–14, 2017. The lectureship is awarded to anyone in the scientific or engineering community whose work highlights the achievements of women in applied or computational mathematics.
