Below is this month's status report for significant projects which LSA IT is leading or broader Michigan IT initiatives that may be of interest to you. Feedback and questions are always welcome.

IT Service Request Satisfaction Ratings — Beginning last week, whenever a support incident is resolved with IT, you will have the opportunity to provide feedback via ServiceLink on your satisfaction with that interaction. This will provide us with a valuable way to measure and improve customer service. Simply follow the link at the very end of the email you receive when the incident is resolved. We will begin reporting overall statistics on these ratings next month via this update. Those who respond to the survey will have the option to check a box if they would like to have IT management contact you regarding their experience. New and Updated Software Available — Since last month's update, we've released the following upgrades to software titles in the portfolio: Parallels 9, Apple Logic Pro X, Apple Mainstage 3, Amos 22, and BBEdit 10.5.5. Wi-Fi Walk-up Assistance — Attention any faculty, students, or staff who may need assistance configuring your wireless devices to connect to the campus network: Campus-wide walk-up clinics will be available in January. Locations and times on central campus are: Angell Courtyard Computing Site (January 8th-9th, 11am-3pm and January 12th-15th and 19th, 6-9pm) and Shapiro Library (January 8th-9th and 12th: 6-9pm, January 13th-15th, 11am-3pm). Google Docs and Sheets Training Info — Google has introduced some updates to Google Docs and Sheets over the past couple months. If you're interested in learning more, training materials have been assembled here: Guide to Documents and Sheets Material on the Web.

Qualtrics Training — Qualtrics is a comprehensive survey generation tool available to U-M. A Google community has recently been created to share tips, tricks and other information.

M+Box Sync client upgrade coming in January — Users of the M+Box sync client will receive an upgrade to version 4.0 in January. M+Box provides 50GB per user and 200GB per group of secure cloud-based file storage. Learn more about M+Box or learn more about the upcoming upgrade specifically.

2014 Maintenance Dates — We have planned the LSA IT maintenance weekends for 2014. Maintenance weekends will be March 1–2, July 12–13, and October 18–19. Eduroam — ITS added an additional Wi-Fi network across the academic campus. Eduroam (education roaming) is a secured Wi-Fi network service that allows students, faculty and staff to use their home institution's Wi-Fi credentials to access Wi-Fi network services, when visiting other eduroam participating institutions-without having to set up a guest account. This will be useful to many visitors to our campus. U-M students, faculty and staff should continue to use MWireless while on our campus and can now use eduroam at other participating institutions. Local File Backup — Need free, unlimited backup storage for your workstation? We can help. Desktop backup is available to all LSA faculty and staff using Linux, Mac and Windows. This is only intended for cases where files need to be stored on the local workstation.
