Mid-Phon (the Mid-Continental Phonetics and Phonology Workshop) is a regional conference that brings together faculty and students interested in phonetics and phonology from universities across the Mid-Continental region. The 18th installment of this conference will be hosted by Michigan Linguistics on March 22-24 right here in Ann Arbor. The event is supported with generous sponsorship from the Department of Linguistics and the Rackham School of Graduate Studies.

The co-chairs of the organizing committee, graduate student Mike Opper and professor San Duanmu, report that plans for the conference are coming together nicely. You may soon receive a request from them for help - to provide crash space for students from other universities who will attend the conference, or to assist in various ways during the event itself.

More information about the conference, including a call for abstracts, is available on the conference website.
