Our Department chair, Sally Thomason, will present in SoConDi this Friday (10/26, 3 pm, Lorch 403) on language endangerment. Sally has worked for many years on the documentation of Montana Salish, a severely endangered language, and she therefore has personal experience of what happens to a community when their language is being lost. Sally's presentation is based on a chapter from the textbook on endangered languages that she is writing.

The title of Sally's presentation is "A Community Perspective on Language Endangerment: Language Loss as Cultural Loss". More details, including an abstract of the talk is available here.
