Diane Larsen-Freeman has been selected unanimously as the 2011 recipient of the American Association for Applied Linguistics‘s Distinguished Scholarship and Service Award for her contributions to so many aspects of the field of applied linguistics and for her exemplary citizenship in the discipline.

The recipient of the Distinguished Scholarship and Service award receives lifetime honorary membership in AAAL, a lifetime waiver of AAAL conference registration, and an engraved award. The award will be presented before the opening plenary address at the 2011 conference in Chicago, on Saturday, March 26. In addition, the recipient is invited to give a paper (approximately 45minutes in length) on a topic of his/her choice.
