Learning video production and editing can be a daunting task with a steep learning curve. For people without a background in video editing software, it can be confusing and intimidating. Thankfully, Instructional Support Services is here to help! Located in the ISS Media Center at 2001 Modern Languages Building, the ISS Media Productions Group provides a variety of training resources to LSA students, faculty, and staff.

Whether it is learning iMovie, Premiere Pro CC, Final Cut Pro X, Camtasia, or even Kaltura CaptureSpace, the ISS Media Productions Group has both appointment based and open office hours training available. A member of our staff will conduct a one hour training session, targeted to get anyone started on their projects. These sessions can also be used to troubleshoot specific editing issues, to learn advanced techniques, or to receive consultations on equipment and lighting setups. The appointment hours for the ISS Media Production Group are Monday 2-4pm, Tuesday 1:30-3:30pm, Wednesday 1:30-3:30pm, Thursday 2-4pm, and Friday 12-3pm. First come, first serve open office hours are available from 5-7pm on Monday through Thursday. To make an appointment, please email lsa-iss-media@umich.edu.

Group workshops are also available to faculty looking to add a video project to their course, provided in the Mac Classroom in the ISS Media Center. Services range from equipment training, basic editing orientation, to a tour of the ISS Media Center. Space is limited for this service; faculty interested in taking advantage of this should contact us as early into the semester as possible to ensure that resources are available. Please email lsa-iss-media@umich.edu for more information or for inquiries.

Finally, the ISS Media Production Group has compiled an online collection of video editing training materials, designed to be inserted into courses. The M+Box folder - https://umich.box.com/s/ucj4tlo1ruiq229bz8twwrrunm4z2m3y - contains weblinks to our video tutorials, abridged manuals for iMovie, Premiere Pro CC, and Final Cut Pro, as well as sample footage to work alongside of the tutorial content.
