In order to prepare for the qualifying exams in Greek and Latin, the Program has provided a reading list of Greek and Roman texts on which the exams are based. This selection of works is designed not only to aid the student in improving his or her knowledge of the ancient languages, but also to highlight texts and authors which offer insight into the history of the ancient world. Students are encouraged to begin working on the reading list as soon as possible, preferably during the summer before their arrival to Ann Arbor. Often students find that reading groups help to make preparation for qualifying exams not only more informative but also more enjoyable.
