The U-M Career Center assists students with internship searches, positions within and outside the academy, and reflect on career and educational goals through counseling services and workshops.
The Career Center also has resources on preparing resume for non-academic positions. They also conduct workshops during the academic year. Here is a list of past workshops and a link to their handshake registration site for future events.
- The Humanities PhD Project provides a range of resources and links on translating a cv into resume. This site also provides “success stories” of humanists with leadership positions outside the academy.
- The Institute for the Humanities nominates students for the Humanities Without Walls (HWW) Pre-doctoral Career Diversity Summer Workshop, to support exploration of the various ways that the skill sets gained in graduate study can be used in the public humanities and the private sector. The three-week workshop, facilitated and directed by the Chicago Humanities Festival, takes place in Chicago every year.
