Graduation

Please check back for updates on plans for 2021. It is currently too soon to tell whether we will hold an in-person or virtual celebration. As the Regents make their decisions, based on the safety of students and guests, we will update this page. Thank you.

TENTATIVE DATES

U-M Spring Commencement: Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Honors Graduation Ceremony: Thursday, April 29, 2021, 11a at the Crisler Center. All students graduating from the Honors program are invited.

Honors Awards Ceremony: Thursday, April 29, 2021, 7:00p at the Michigan Union (Room TBD). (Award recipients have successfully applied to Honors Awards and Scholarships and are notified of their inclusion in this ceremony.)

Honors Graduation Invitation Request:  All Honors graduates and their families are invited to attend the graduation ceremonies at the Crisler Center. Invitations are electronic this year! More information soon.

TENTATIVE DETAILS
Honors Awards Ceremony: Thursday, April 29, 7:00 p.m. Participating students are notified separately.

Location: Michigan Union Pendleton Room.

Honors Graduation Ceremony: Thursday, April 29, 11 a.m.

Location: Crisler Center  (Parking information is available at the bottom of the page.)

Formal invitations will be sent; copies will be available in the Honors office.  Families will be glad to know that there is no limit to the number of guests students may invite. 

On graduation day, students will have seating on the main floor. Families and guests will use the Lower Bowl seating.

Honors Open House Reception: Friday, April 30, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Location: 1330 Mason Hall
NOTE: The Honors Office will be closed for campus/student business this day.

A light brunch and beverages will be available to graduates, family, and friends during the afternoon, as faculty and staff congratulate the latest graduating class. Stop by, spend a few minutes, and relax.

Honors Cords & Certificates

Honors cords, maize and blue combined, and your Honors graduation certificate are bestowed upon you during the graduation ceremony. If you are unable to attend the Honors Graduation, please stop by the Open House to pick up the cords and certificate, so that you may wear your cords for Spring Commencement on Saturday morning. (Yellow cords, offered at the book store, relate to GPA/Distinction. You should estimate if your cumulative GPA will be 3.6+, should you wish to purchase them.) Should you be unable to attend either function, please stop by the Honors Office after the weekend of ceremonies.

Parking|Transportation and Accessibility on Graduation Day

Accessibility:

Guests with limited mobility may be dropped off at the southwest or northeast entrances. The southwest entrance is on the same level as the concourse, while the northeast may be easier to access. At the northeast entrance, there is an elevator to the concourse.

Limited parking is available onsite for guests with limited mobility.  A state-issued disability placard/license plate must be displayed.  Handicapped Reserved spaces will be available by the northeast entrance of Crisler Center. 

ADA seating is available on the inner concourse, in between the upper and lower bowl. The Event Management Staff (badged and available throughout the building) will assist you.

Parking & Transportation

There is an AATA Park & Ride Lot at Pioneer High School, 601 W. Stadium.  The lot is on the southwest corner of Stadium & Main, the first entrance south of Stadium. It is within walking distance to Crisler Center. 

All Central and South campus orange, yellow, and blue permit lots will be open to the general public.  There are several orange and yellow lots near Crisler Center: SC4, SC5, SC6, SC7, SC35, and SC36.  (Please visit pts.umich.edu/maps/central_south.pdf for a detailed map of the area.)

Michigan blue busses, including the South Bound Commuter, will be in operation that day and may be a viable option for traveling to and from Crisler Center for some graduates and families.
