This is your opportunity to meet Martha Pollack, the Provost of the University. So, what’s a Provost? She is the chief academic officer of the University, with responsibility for all academic issues and the budget: with President Schlissel, Professor Pollack sets academic priorities and sets the funding for those priorities. She oversees all colleges and schools within the University, all libraries, admissions and financial aid, and much more. In addition, Professor Pollack is a scholar with interests in artificial intelligence and the possibilities for computer assistance for people with cognitive disabilities. With a background in linguistics and computer science, Professor Pollack is bound to be a fascinating guest for Lunch with Honors. Come and ask her how the university works or how machines can help us work: it’s all bound to be fascinating.
