Here's some general information to give you a sense of what to expect at Orientation. You will receive plenty of assistance, and answers to your many questions, when you arrive on campus.
As part of the three-day Orientation process, students will arrive in the LSA Honors offices on the second day for navigation information necessary for the entire Freshman class. They'll have lunch together, catered by a local eatery, and spend some time with our Director, Professor Tim McKay. All students will receive the Honors Summer Book (we share discussions surrounding this at Fall Kick-Off), then attend a course selection fair in the afternoon. During the fair, they'll meet with our experienced advisors, sharing academic goals and dreams and getting to know our knowledgeable staff
That evening, Honors Academic Peer Advisors - students who have travelled through the same process - assist students in scheduling their fall classes on Wolverine Access, known as "backpacking." Our computer lab is set up in the Perlman Honors Commons, introducing them to our outlet-friendly study environment available for use throughout the school year.
On their third morning here, they revisit the Honors offices for a last look at their schedule with an advisor. When they leave, they're ready for fall classes and Kick-Off. Before departing, they may wish to purchase Honors spirit wear - we have our annual t-shirt designs for $5 and our LSA Honors hoodies for $25.
We're looking forward to meeting everyone!
*Note to Parents Attending: You will have Orientation Student Leaders bringing you over to the Honors Office for a short morning session, where you will hear information regarding enrolled students, followed by a question and answer period.
