The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures is pleased to announce the sixth round of a scholarship reserved specifically for 2017 Huron High School graduates entering the University of Michigan beginning in the Academic Year 2017/2018.

A $1,000 one-time scholarship per award recipient is available to 2017 graduates of Huron High School who have taken at least one year of German at Huron High School. Disbursement of funds is contingent upon completion of at least two semesters of German language with a satisfactory grade (C or better) during their undergraduate years at U-M.  We encourage students to use these funds for a study abroad opportunity, in which case the grant may be enhanced by additional departmental support.

Applications should be submitted via this form,, by May 15, 2017. The winner will be notified by May 31, 2017. Graduating seniors of Huron High School matriculating at U-M in fall 2017 are eligible to apply. The application and decision process is administered by the University of Michigan Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures.

This scholarship was initiated in order to provide a monetary award to Huron High School students pursuing German language study at any level.
