Doctoral student James Elrod recently reviewed Julia Himberg's book, The New Gay for Pay: The Sexual Politics of American Television Production, for the journal of Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture. Himberg's 2017 book raises critical awareness of the ways in which media practitioners, diversity advocates, and audiences perceive the effects of televisual representations of LGBT characters and how these representations shape wider cultural ideas about sexualities and identities
