Visiting Professor of Creative Writing (Poetry)

The Helen Zell Writers’ Program in the Department of English at the University of Michigan
invites applications for a visiting appointment in poetry. This is a non-tenure-track position with a
university-year appointment. The appointment term is three years, with the potential for renewal
for an additional two years. Candidates should be emerging writers (at least one book published
or under contract) who have achieved distinction in their writing and demonstrated the promise
of excellence in their teaching.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, statement of writing plans, evidence of teaching
excellence, a published or contracted book or manuscript, and three letters of recommendation
by September 28th. The English Department is committed to the core values of diversity, equity,
and inclusion, and we encourage all applicants to comment, either in the cover letter or in a
separate statement on how their research, teaching, and/or service experience will enhance our
efforts to support these values and the needs of an increasingly diverse student population.

Offers for this appointment are contingent on successful completion of a background check.

The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women and
minority candidates are encouraged to apply. All applications will be acknowledged.
