A Lecture by M. Asaduddin

Award-winning translator, translation studies critic and English professor M. Asaduddin will draw on his translating experiences to offer an overview of a century of Urdu writing - including Dr. Rasheed Jahan, Ismat Chughtai and Qurratulain Hyder.

M. Asaddudin is an author, translator and critic as well as the Chair of the Department of English in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. M. Asaduddin has won many recognitions for his work, including, most recently, the 2013 Crossword Award for his translation of Ismat Chughtai's A Life in Words: Memoirs.

This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Comparative Literature, the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, the Center for South Asian Studies, and the Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop on Literary Translation.
