Welcome to the CGIS Blog!
CGIS is thrilled to bring the CGIS blog to the website as an easier way to access U-M students' stories from all around the world. In the following months, we will be transitioning all of the blogs from our previous blog website to here. This page will be updating frequently as we add new and old postings and with that may come a shift in how this page will be organized. We will try our best to maintain easy access throughout this project. Again, thank you for your patience and for now, please feel free to explore the current CGIS wordpress blog.
Why a blog?
At CGIS, we are continuously working on providing all types of opportunities for prospective students to learn about studying abroad. From financial aid & scholarship help to health & safety support, CGIS is here to help you every step of the way, but we also recognize that we can't completely give you the student insight that you're looking for. That's where the blog comes in. With the help from CGIS Alumni, you can find all the questions to your answers, whether it's learning about cultures around the world, learning about your identities abroad and how that impacts your experience to insight about homestay & apartment living, internships, excursions, hobbies abroad, and more! The world is at your fingertips and U-M students who have studied abroad with CGIS can help lead the way to turn that thought of study abroad into a reality.
How can I contibute to the blog?
We're always looking for content discussing a wide range of topics. There are so many questions when it comes to studying abroad and by you contributing to our blog, you have a unique opportunity to inspire prospective students to embark on an incredible journey that can open so many doors to them. The only stipulation to contributing to our blog is that you needed to have studied abroad on a CGIS program. Once that's happened, please feel free to share your experiences from your time abroad. Also keep in mind that it doesn't matter how long ago you studied abroad with CGIS. All stories are welcome! To submit your experience abroad, please e-mail Communications Specialist Stephen Gonzalez at email@example.com.
What should I expect from this page?
As mentioned above, we will be working all summer to transition from our previous blog onto this page so we expect a lot of change to be happening as we continue to update. Our goal is to give CGIS alumni an opportunity to provide insight on all of our programs and even creating an opportunity for prospective students to interact with CGIS alumni as a better way to prepare for their time abroad. Prospective students will be able to submit questions directly to CGIS alumni, will have access to various articles & helpful tips by CGIS alumni, and articles written by CGIS staff who have conducted site visits all around the world.
