UM Financial Aid
Most UM-awarded financial aid—grants, scholarships, loans—may be used to help defray global study program costs. Speak with an advisor in the Office of Financial Aid to determine what kind of financial aid funding you will receive for a CGIS program.
The LSA Scholarship Office is committed to providing support to students with demonstrated financial need. Over $1.7 million in LSA scholarship funds are available each year for LSA students on CGIS programs.
Scholarships are granted based on financial need. Amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000 per student depending on the level of need and program costs. LSA students with financial need can apply for the LSA Study Abroad Scholarship at the same time that they are applying for a CGIS program by visiting the LSA Scholarships website.
Recipients of the LSA Study Abroad Scholarship must complete a donor-related activity for the LSA Scholarship Office as well as a service activity with CGIS. You have a variety of options for satisfying your CGIS scholarship service requirement.
Pell Grant recipients on GIEU programs automatically receive the GIEU Pell Scholarship to cover their entire program fee. All LSA students with demonstrated financial need—including Pell Grant recipients—are eligible for additional funding through the LSA Scholarship Office’s Study Abroad Scholarship.
Learn about external study abroad scholarships on the Additional Scholarships page and by talking to your CGIS advisor and your academic advisor.
