U-M Library Undergraduate Research Awards Application is Now Open (Deadline: May 2)


In recognition of the extraordinary academic achievements of our undergraduate students, the University Library announces the ninth annual U-M Library Undergraduate Research Award for excellence in library research conducted in support of an undergraduate student project.



The awards are as follows:


  Maize Award for Single-Term Projects                Blue Award for Multi-Term Projects

Outstanding First-Year Research Project Award  $   500


Innovation in Research and Creativity Award       $1,000


The Outstanding First-Year Research Award honors well researched and well written projects undertaken by first-year undergraduate students.


The Innovation in Research and Creativity Award honors projects that involved creating something other than the standard term paper or honors thesis paper.  The result of student research endeavors can be an art exhibit, a prototype of a product or device, a musical composition, an architectural rendering, and a wide range of other objects or outputs.  This award will recognize the blending of library research or the use of library labs with a student’s creative work to create something new.
