The American Culture Undergraduate Studies Committee is pleased to announce this year’s winners of the Richard Meisler Writing Award! This year’s awardees are:

  • Caitlyn Zawideh (American Culture Major, 2020): “Deepfakes, Truth, and the Individual”

  • Holly Reynolds (Native American Studies Minor, 2020): “Summary of the 1868 Crow Land Session”

This prize is named the Richard Meisler Award, in memory of our dear colleague Richard Meisler, who served as undergraduate advisor in our department for more than a decade and who was both playful and deeply respectful of the ideas and commitments of our undergraduate students. This year's selection committee was faced with an impressive number of submissions, and we are happy to highlight the exciting achievements and outstanding writing of these American Culture Students!
