Leaving the World of Gymnastics for Fashion
Serena Pergola | Junior | Communication
“I was a competitive gymnast for 13 years. But when I fractured my back, it was a career ending injury. The type of euphoria you feel when you master a balance beam routine is hard to match, but I’m starting to find parallels now. When I heard I was offered the internship at Tuleste in New York City this past summer, I felt so proud. It was so outside my realm, but I pushed myself to be a little uncomfortable and vulnerable, and put applications out there to see how I would do. Getting that offer has been the closest I’ve felt to achieving in the gym. It made all the hard work in class worth it.”
