Student Spotlight

Finishing Strong

Jacob Sallen | Sophomore | Economics

“Having just sat down with my boss and discussed my internship evaluation, the reality that I am in my last week of work at MeVee is setting in... Whether it be networking, public speaking advice, or work habits, I know that I was much more prepared to take on this job than I would’ve been coming out of high school. My liberal arts education has played an underlying role in this internship. The work I have done at MeVee by marketing and capital raising would not be as easy were it not for the aforementioned information I have obtained in my time as a Wolverine... Perhaps what I can say that Michigan really offered me was a set of skills for new situations. I really didn’t learn any economics equation last winter that I could plug in to my job, but instead my multifaceted education is building within me a set of skills for problem solving and a work ethic for overcoming challenges.” Read more.
