FALL 2019

emptyWelcome Back to the Fall Academic Term!

We hope you had a wonderful summer! The Testing Accommodation Center (TAC) is here to provide you with resources to help navigate the test accommodation process. Whether you are utilizing the TAC this academic term, or have questions regarding providing accommodations in a separate location, we are here to support you in meeting the needs of students. We look forward to our continued collaboration!

Announcement! National Test Center Certification

The LSA Testing Accommodation Center (TAC) was awarded Test Center Certification by the National College Testing Association (NCTA) this summer! Criteria for certification are rigorous and are based on the NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines, which were developed to guide post-secondary test centers in the delivery of quality testing programs. NCTA, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of professionalism and high-quality service in the administration of testing programs, offers certification to college and university test centers that demonstrate exemplary practices.

New Scrap Paper Policy

The TAC has recently been NCTA-certified, and with that comes continued updates to stay in-line with other nationally-certified test centers. Since Spring, we’ve implemented a new policy for how we handle scrap paper requests. If scrap paper is part of your students’ accommodations or part of your reservation(s) at the TAC, this paper must be included in the drop off packets and attached to each exam (stapled or paper clipped). The TAC cannot give out scrap paper.

Email Reminder on Test Delivery

You may have noticed extra reminders sent from our office recently. Our system now generates two automated reminders for exam drop off (day before deadline and day of). Please note that these are an automated courtesy and will be sent even if you have already delivered your exams to the drop box.

emptyTAC Will Travel

The TAC staff want to support you and your department in meeting the needs of students with disabilities. We are committed to working with you to provide space for accommodations and to serve as a resource for any questions you may have in providing accommodations for your students. We would be happy to schedule an appointment if you would like the TAC staff to visit your department to talk with a point person who facilitates your student accommodations, speak at a department meeting, visit with a smaller group of faculty or staff, attend GSI training, etc. Please contact TAC Manager Lisa Clark at lsa.testcenter@umich.edu.
