By bringing together a range of topics related to the question of sound in translation, Dr. Stalling will demonstrate different ways to hear the problems and explore some of his solutions through discussing, chanting, and reciting Chinese poetry composed in Chinese, English, and in both, at the same time.

Dr. Stalling is an Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Oklahoma specializing in American and Transpacific Poetry and Poetics. He is the co-founder and an editor of Chinese Literature Today magazine, and the editor of the magazine, the CLT Book Series (at the University of Oklahoma Press).

This event is co-sponsored by the LSA Translation Theme Semester, Department of Comparative Literature, Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, and the Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Michigan
