To be eligible to declare, students must have completed the following prerequisite courses with a grade of C- or above in each course:
- Comm 101: The Mass Media, 4 credits, requires freshman or sophomore standing
- Comm 102: Media Processes and Effects, 4 credits, requires freshman or sophomore standing
Students are strongly encouraged to attend one of the monthly
Communication and Media information sessions. During these presentations students learn about the major and its requirements, faculty expertise, student groups, career planning, funding and research opportunities offered through the department. A half an hour presentation will be followed by questions and discussion. Students that have completed their prerequisites can declare major at the Information Session.
