Course Descriptions

Approved Undergraduate Course Descriptions include information about each course type (seminar, lecture, discussion, etc.), the number of credits, prerequisites for each course, if applicable, and additional information relevant to the course selection process. In general the 100- and 200-level courses are designated for freshmen and sophomores. The Communication Studies prerequisite and core courses are at this level. The 300-level courses are for students with at least sophomore standing. Courses numbered 350-399 meet the Upper-Level Writing Requirement (ULWR). Courses at the 400-level are generally more appropriate for juniors or seniors, pursuing a major in Communication Studies. Courses at the 450-499 level are senior capstone seminars and are reserved for declared Communication Studies seniors only. Detailed descriptions for Communication Studies courses are posted each semester in the LSA Course Guide.
