About
Sitong Guo’s research and teaching interests involve sports communication and sports media, media effects and identity, media psychology, and strategic communication. Her recent research focuses on examining the effectiveness of crisis response strategies and how identity and organization-public relationships function during a crisis. She is also interested in exploring the media portrayal of nationality and gender norms in big sports events (e.g., Olympic Games, World Cup) and making comparisons between different countries' media. As a sports scholar, her research has mainly focused on understanding fans’ characteristics (e.g., fan identification, motivation, consumption behaviors, and health condition). Her work has been published in a number of peer reviewed journals, including Communication & Sport, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, International Journal of Sport Communication, and Journal of Chengdu Sport University.
