The Department of Communication and Media offers many kinds of events, most free and open to the public. We organize and sponsor numerous lectures, workshops and conferences over the course of the academic year. Our programming covers a wide range of topics and features presenters from diverse disciplines and is designed to foster an understanding of the mass media and emerging media.

Jennifer Temple serves as Chief Communications Officer for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE), a global technology company with $28 billion in revenue and 60,000 employees.

In her current role, Jennifer leads global communications for HPE and reports to the CEO, partnering closely with him on the company’s strategic positioning. A member of the Executive Committee, she has led the transformation of the global communications function to advance HPE’s narrative, enhance the employee experience and demonstrate the company’s societal impact. Through financial, product, executive and internal communications, she drives enhanced stakeholder engagement to distinguish HPE in the marketplace and deliver shareholder value.

She joined HPE in 2018 from financial services company Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC), where she was SVP and Head of Communications for four divisions, including Consumer Lending, Wealth and Investment Management, Corporate Risk and Enterprise IT. During a period of significant transformation, she was a key crisis and reputation advisor as well as a lead spokesperson, responsible for restoring trust with more than 70 million customers and 260,000 employees. She also drove Wells Fargo’s inclusion in industry forums and business press, and she led consumer outreach campaigns and digital and social media engagement programs highlighting the customer experience.

From 2003 to 2012, Jennifer worked at public relations consulting company Hill+Knowlton. As EVP and General Manager, she managed the company’s San Francisco operation with $7 million in annual revenue and served on the U.S. Executive Committee as she provided corporate, financial, M&A and executive positioning counsel to global clients including LinkedIn, Yahoo!, SanDisk and Qualcomm. While at Hill+Knowlton, she served as Global Relationship Manager for HP, managing a $30 million budget and leading a global team focused on media relations, industry analyst relations, employee communications, executive communications and social responsibility initiatives.

From 2000 to 2001, she served as Senior Director, Marketing Communications at Irvine Company, responsible for strategic marketing and public relations for the privately held real estate development company, its residential community subsidiary and its four commercial operating companies. She previously served as VP, Corporate Communications at Banc of America Securities from 1996 to 2000, where she managed high-profile acquisition and change management communications. Previously, she was Assistant Press Secretary to former California Governor Pete Wilson. She began her career in 1993 as an Account Executive at Edelman.

She serves on the board of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Foundation and is a Trustee with the Institute for Public Relations. She is a member of Communications 50, the Arthur W. Page Society and the National Investor Relations Institute.

Jennifer holds a B.A. in Communication from the University of Michigan.
