The Department of Communication and Media offers many kinds of events, most free and open to the public. We organize and sponsor numerous lectures, workshops and conferences over the course of the academic year. Our programming covers a wide range of topics and features presenters from diverse disciplines and is designed to foster an understanding of the mass media and emerging media.

Elliott Polakoff has spent over seven years telling sports stories across the country. Since graduating from Michigan in 2011, he's reported on everything from Super Bowl parades to the Final Four. Along the way, he's received several awards for producing content that brings different communities together. Currently, he's the Sports Anchor/Reporter for WFSB-TV in Rocky Hill, CT, as well as a SportsCenter Anchor for ESPN Radio. Prior to arriving in Connecticut, he also spent time as a sports anchor and reporter in Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois.
