Bridge MA in Classical Studies
About
Taylor received her BA with Honors from Gonzaga University in Classical Civilizations with a Latin Languages and Authors concentration and minors in Philosophy and English. Her senior thesis for her major centered on the treatment of Emperor Hadrian's lover, Antinous, and his deification and treatment as a god and hero in antiquity. She expanded on this for her honors thesis by looking at later reception of Antinous, specifically in a novel from the late 19th century, which was scandalous at the time for depicting romance and eroticism between two men. Researching Antinous' small but significant role in the early days of homosexuality being established as an identity has geared her interests towards sex, gender and sexuality in the ancient world.
